Ceramic Tile?

Should I use ceramic tile in a basement appartment?
we have a flooding problem so i don't want to use carpet anymore.

i need osme feedback on the pros and cons of putting ceramic tile in my downstairs. It would be leading out to my slider and then on to my deck. i had intended to use a darker grout. I have 4 boys and two small dogs. I was going to use a textured tile. I'm afraid because it is so permanent. Any suggestions?
